Milestones in AKIRMAK History
AKIRMAK history began in 1974 with a small automotive glass service workshop. Over the years, the company expanded its production capabilities and developed into an integrated manufacturer of rear-view mirror systems and related components.
Foundation and Early Development
AKIRMAK was founded in 1974 by Mr. İlhan AKIRMAK as a workshop under the name "AKIRMAK Auto Glass Service". During this period, the company developed expertise in convex mirror glass manufacturing and related production technologies.
Convex Mirror Glass Production
Serial production of convex rear-view mirror glass started in 1983. AKIRMAK supplied mirror glass to other rear-view mirror manufacturers and became a specialized producer in the sector.
Expansion into Complete Mirror Manufacturing
Following investments in plastic injection molding and assembly operations, AKIRMAK expanded its production capabilities and started manufacturing complete rear-view mirror products.
OEM Entry and First Export
The company entered the OEM market in 1994 with its first commercial vehicle customer, Otoyol/Iveco. In the same year, AKIRMAK completed its first export shipment to Greece.
Metal Forming and New Markets
AKIRMAK established metal forming and welding operations for mirror arms and entered the agricultural vehicle market with Türk Traktör A.Ş.
New Facility in Kayapa
Production activities were transferred to the new factory in Bursa Kayapa Organized Industrial Zone in 2006. Investments in machinery and production technologies continued to increase manufacturing capacity. AKIRMAK received ISO 9001 certification in 2007.
Quality Systems Development
AKIRMAK was awarded ISO/TS 16949 certification in 2011, strengthening its commitment to international automotive quality standards.
Global Growth
The company received ISO 14001 certification in 2012 and the Turkey's Green Facility Award in 2015. During this period, AKIRMAK expanded its international presence and strengthened its manufacturing capabilities.
